Leung Chun-ying, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), headed a survey team of members of the CPPCC National Committee from Hong Kong to East China's Fujian province from Oct 22 to 26, to promote in-depth cooperation between the two regions. 

The team visited Fuzhou, Ningde, and Xiamen to survey the current collaboration between Hong Kong and Fujian in the fields of economy and trade, sci-tech innovation, cultural creativity, educational exchanges, and the operation of Hong Kong-funded enterprises. They also learned about Fujian's development of smart cities, green energy, cultural and tourism industries, and held discussions and exchanged views with local government officials, executives of Hong Kong-funded enterprises, and Hong Kong students studying in Fujian. 

Through high-level meetings, delegation visits, and online activities, the mechanism of the "Fujian-Hong Kong Cooperation Conference" has achieved fruitful results in advancing the partnership of the two sides in such areas as trade, finance, sci-tech and education in recent years, Hong Kong CPPCC members said at a forum held during the survey tour. 

They said the continuous implementation of national strategies, such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, has brought about significant opportunities and vast space for deepening cooperation between Fujian and Hong Kong. 

The team called for closer high-level exchanges and communication between the two sides and making better use of the Fujian-Hong Kong cooperation advisory committee as a platform to facilitate mutual understanding and align the strengths and advantages of Hong Kong with the needs of Fujian, so as to advance and expand collaboration between the two regions.
