Wang Guangqian, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League (CDL), attended the opening ceremony of an exhibition of meticulous paintings by Chinese artist Yuan Xiang in Beijing on Oct 16. 

In conjunction with the ongoing thematic education campaign launched by the Communist Party of China, the event aims to promote fine traditional Chinese culture. 

Meticulous painting, or traditional Chinese realistic painting, is regarded as a component of fine traditional Chinese culture and an important type of painting in the field of contemporary Chinese art, Wang said in a speech. 

Wang encouraged CDL members to explore the innovative development of fine traditional Chinese culture and to take a people-centered approach in producing more works of art to depict people's happiness and the nation's prosperity and rejuvenation.
