Non-CPC members of the Committee on Proposals of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee visited East China's Jiangxi province from Oct 13 to 17, where they inspected and supervised local urban regeneration action, one of the major proposals designated by the CPPCC National Committee this year.
The inspection team, led by Yang Zhen, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party Central Committee, visited grassroots communities, elderly activity centers, historical and cultural neighborhoods and sport centers in the cities of Jingdezhen and Jiujiang to check the achievements made in the renovation of old residential areas, improvements to the living environment, the protection of historical and cultural towns and blocks, as well as the restoration and utilization of historical and cultural heritages.
At a symposium held in Jingdezhen, the team stressed the importance of people-centered philosophy and urged the local governments to effectively solve the urgent and difficult problems faced by the people. The attending CPPCC members called for more efforts to continuously improve urban safety and resilience, and foster a systematic development philosophy that holds the "bottom line" for historical and cultural protection in urban areas.
