The Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee organized an assistance activity for people with disabilities in Beijing on Oct 16. Zhou Qiang, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the event. 

The attending CPPCC members stressed the importance of leveraging their expertise and advantages and taking practical actions to provide assistance and solutions to problems of public concern, so as to let all people, including those with disabilities, share the achievements made in advancing people's livelihoods and social governance. 

They conducted an onsite survey on the development of the disability cause and assistance service programs for the disabled in Beijing, and learned about their needs in daily life. They also provided suggestions to the local authorities on facilitating flexible employment for disabled people and promoting social respect and compassion for them.
