The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee held a consultation meeting on Oct 10 on the handling of a key proposal to establish a special zone that is oriented toward the markets in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as well as a national industrial base in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. Chen Wu, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the meeting.
The meeting participants fully affirmed the measures and achievements of Guangxi in promoting high-level opening-up and creating the special zone and the industrial base. They also highlighted the importance of building the zone and the base in developing a China-ASEAN community with a shared future, as well as advancing high-quality development in border areas.
The meeting attendees also called for greater efforts to enhance institutional innovation, establish a new modern industrial system and industrial clusters with local characteristics, and further optimize the business environment, to better serve the construction of a closer China-ASEAN community.
