Bater, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, led a team to survey the development and security of border areas in Northeast China's Jilin province, from Oct 9 to 12.
The team conducted field studies to experience the historic progress made in grassroots communities, villages, schools, border checks, industrial bases and religious venues in Changchun and Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture. It noted that the central leadership's strategic thinking on border-area development has provided fundamental guidance for further consolidating border areas and enriching the lives of local residents.
The team called on CPPCC members to leverage the advantages of the CPPCC system to widely pool consensus and efforts for accelerating the construction of infrastructure and public service facilities in border areas, promoting rural vitalization in all respects and developing local-feature industries. It also stressed the importance of building a strong sense of community of the Chinese nation and developing religions in the Chinese context, so as to ensure the prosperity and stability of border areas during the process of the Chinese path to modernization.
