A forum themed "Comprehensive cultivation of top innovative talents: the responsibility of scientists and educators" was held in North China's Tianjin on Sept 26. Experts and scholars exchanged views on relevant issues based on the current situation of education, science and technology, and talent cultivation. 

Wang Guangqian, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the China Democratic League (CDL) Central Committee, said at the meeting that as China's education has entered a stage of higher-level and higher-quality development, it is necessary to be aware of the new situations, tasks and challenges. 

Wang noted that as a participatory party, the CDL has always attached great importance to the reform and development of education, persisted in in-depth investigations and research, been active in giving suggestions, many of which have been valued as reference for decision-making by  the Communist Party of China committees and governments at different levels. 

He called on the CDL Tianjin municipal committee to closely revolve around the national development strategy, continuously improve the ability of its members to perform their democratic supervision duties in the field of education and technology, and contribute sound advice and wisdom to assist in Tianjin's high-quality social and economic development.
