The Committee on Proposals of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee conducted a supervision survey on promoting rural education vitalization in East China's Anhui province, from Sept 18 to 22. Yang Zhen, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party (CPWDP) Central Committee, headed the survey team.
During the survey, the CPPCC team went to schools, ranging from kindergarten to university, in the cities of Anqing, Wuhu and Lu'an, where they talked to faculty and students. They also held symposiums with local provincial and municipal government officials and teacher representatives, listened to their work reports and suggestions on the implementation of relevant policies and measures, as well as local experiences and practical needs in promoting rural education vitalization.
The survey team spoke highly of Anhui's achievements in promoting the vitalization of rural education since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The team members said that the vitalization of rural education is an important part of building an educational powerhouse and a necessary move in promoting educational equity. Rural education has ushered in new opportunities and needs, along with the deepening implementation of the country's rural vitalization strategy.
They called for coordinated efforts to move forward rural education and realize the Chinese modernization. They suggested optimizing the layout of schools based on changes in population mobility to ensure balanced development.
They also highlighted the importance of teachers' capacity building, deepening the curriculum and teaching reform, improving inclusive preschool education, and advancing vocational education and the information networks of rural schools.
