The Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) held a symposium in Bijie, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Sept 19, focusing on promoting the city as a demonstration zone for the country's new development philosophy.

Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, attended and addressed the event.

He said that assisting in Bijie's efforts to build a high-quality demonstration zone for implementing the new development philosophy is a political task entrusted to the CAPD by the Communist Party of China. The CAPD committees at all levels will take the task of serving Bijie as a major opportunity and responsibility.

Zhu suggested establishing an effective working mechanism, strengthening work coordination and supervision, surveying the key tasks and needs of Bijie as a new demonstration zone, and clarifying the division of work.

He called for CAPD members to fully utilize their experience gained in other assistance projects over the years in supporting the development of Bijie.

Representatives of CAPD provincial committees from Jiangxi, Hubei, Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Guizhou exchanged views on local assistance work.
