The Fifth Jiusan Society Green Development Forum was held in Chengdu on Sept 11. 

Shao Hong, vice-chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairperson of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, attended the event and delivered a speech.   

As an important part of the 21st Western China Overseas Hi-tech and High Talents Conference, the forum is themed on accelerating the green transformation of traditional industries in the Yangtze River Basin, supporting high-quality development with high-quality ecological environment. Experts and scholars from different sectors, as well as provincial-level committees of the Jiusan Society of the 10 provincial-level regions in the Yangtze River Basin, were invited to exchange ideas and insight on promoting the ecological protection and high-quality development of the basin. 

Shao said that science and technology is a powerful tool for improving the ecological environment and a core driving force for industrial transformation and upgrading. Through the forum, the Jiusan Society aims to fully leverage its intellectual and technological advantages, integrate both internal and external technological resources and strengths, to better serve ecological environment protection and green development, and to deliver more benefits to mankind, he said. 

Shao noted that the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society will continue to deeply implement the decisions and plans made by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council on the advancement of ecological civilization, and to make good use of the society's rich human resources in science and technology as well as the forum to contribute new wisdom and strength to the high-quality development of a beautiful China. 

The forum was sponsored by the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society and jointly hosted by the United Front Work Department of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, and the Sichuan provincial and Chongqing municipal committees of the Jiusan Society.
