From Sept 4 to 8, a team of members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from Macao Special Administrative Region conducted a survey in South China's Guangdong province on deepening cooperation between Guangdong and Macao. Ho Hau Wah, vice-chairperson of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, headed the team.

The team visited Foshan, Zhaoqing, and Guangzhou to learn about their roles and potential in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), the construction of new urban areas, and the business environment, as well as the growth of high-tech, traditional Chinese medicine, and cultural tourism industries. At the Hong Kong and Macao youth innovation and entrepreneurship base, the CPPCC members also had extensive exchanges with Macao youth who have started businesses in Guangdong.

At a symposium held during the survey, the team affirmed the evident progress and achievements Guangdong has made in both hardware and software connectivity with Hong Kong and Macao since the launch of the GBA. Guangdong has advanced its integration with Macao by enhancing the services of local governments, upgrading its business environment, introducing Macao business community to develop in Guangdong, and attracting more Macao youth to start businesses in the province.

Noting that there remains vast potential for cooperation, the team called on CPPCC National Committee members from Macao and local CPPCC members at all levels to fulfill their mission and duties and play a positive role in mobilizing all sectors of the society to participate in the construction of the GBA, as well as to promote diversified economic development in Macao.

Impressed by the strong momentum and promising prospects of the GBA, the team expressed full confidence in the future development of the region.
