A team from the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation conducted a survey in Pengyang county, Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region, from Sept 4 to 7 to gain insights on the paired assistance program. Li Bin, vice-chairperson of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairperson of the foundation, headed the team.

At the symposium held during the survey, Li noted that the paired assistance program was a major decision made by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to promote coordinated regional development and common prosperity. She urged the foundation to fully leverage its dual advantages as a social organization and a public welfare charity institution to innovate measures, improve mechanisms, and enhance the efficiency of the paired assistance work.

Li called on the foundation to prioritize assistance to the development of  industries with local features, introduce more investment and talent resources, and strengthen coordination between production and market demand in order to increase the income of local people.

She also called for further assistance in cultivating local talents through education and training, and providing greater support to upgrading the county's education level, medical resources, infrastructure construction and living environment, to build Pengyang into a beautiful countryside that is both livable and business-friendly.
