On Sept 2, a symposium was held in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality to exchange ideas on the building of a Beautiful China.   

He Wei, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party (CPWDP) delivered a speech at the meeting. Wang Guangqian, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. 

Themed on advancing the modernization of a harmonious coexistence between man and nature, the meeting invited more than 150 academicians, experts, and scholars in the field of ecological and environmental protection research, to exchange ideas and experience on promoting environmental pollution prevention and control, strengthening biodiversity protection, addressing climate change, and building pilot zones to drum up the building of a Beautiful China. 

Stressing the guiding role of the important speech made at the National Conference on Eco-environmental Protection, He Wei called for further efforts to align thinking and actions with the decisions and plans of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, to fully understand the tremendous achievements and major transformations made in the construction of an ecological civilization in the new era, and to contribute to the new journey of the country’s ecological civilization progress. He stressed the need to handle major relationships and consciously follow the objective laws while advancing ecological civilization on the new journey. 

He also underscored more efforts to implement the major strategic arrangements for the building of a Beautiful China and to comprehensively promote the modernization of a harmonious coexistence between man and nature, as well as to strengthen the Party's overall leadership in ecological civilization progress and to clearly identify the working position of the CPWDP in implementing the strategic arrangement of building a Beautiful China. 

The meeting was co-hosted by the CPWDP Central Committee, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the CPPCC National Committee.
