The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Areas of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee conducted a supervision survey in Northeast China's Jilin province, from Aug 25 to 27, on the promotion of the artificial breeding industry of sika deer for rural vitalization, one of the CPPCC's key proposals to be handled this year.
The supervision team visited sika breeding bases, research institutes, industrial parks, and enterprise workshops in Shuangyang district of Jilin's provincial capital Changchun city and Dongfeng county of Liaoyuan city. They met and exchanged ideas with frontline workers, farmers and researchers, to learn about the development of local sika deer artificial breeding.
At a symposium held in Changchun, Qin Boyong, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee, commended Jilin's achievements in empowering its agriculture through the high-quality development of the sika deer industry based on regional advantages and industrial strength.
Qin noted that it's important to further align production with processing and marketing, establish a complete supply chain, commercialize sci-tech achievements and integrate agriculture with culture and tourism, so that rural industries can truly benefit farmers and promote rural prosperity.
She urged the local government to focus on key issues facing the development of the sika deer industry, tailor measures to local conditions through scientific planning, and provide policy support and guidance to boost the high-quality development of the sector. She also called on CPPCC members to fully leverage the advantages of talent, uphold the concept of serving the people, and contribute wisdom and strength to advance rural vitalization.
