A gala dinner of the US-China Business Council (USCBC)'s 50th anniversary was held in Beijing on Aug 22. Hu Chunhua, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended and addressed the event.

He said that the meeting between the two heads of state in Bali, Indonesia, last November signaled the right direction of China-US relations.

Noting that the Chinese economy has strong resilience and great potential, and China will continue to open its door wider and wider to the outside world, he invited more US companies to invest and do business in China.

Hu acknowledged the USCBC’s instrumental role in facilitating economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and American business communities since its establishment half a century ago. Affirming that economic and trade cooperation has always been an important component of China-US relations, he said he hopes that the USCBC and business communities of both countries will continue to play a bridging role and make greater contributions to the development of China-US relations.

About 400 guests, including US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns, attended the event.
