A seminar on the protection and inheritance of Qutan Temple and Hehuang culture was held in Haidong, Northwest China's Qinghai province, on Aug 18.

In his speech at the seminar, Shao Hong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, analyzed the historical formation of Hehuang culture, and its important position and historical value in Yellow River culture and Chinese culture as a whole.

Shao expressed his hope that Qinghai will strengthen the research, protection and inheritance of Hehuang culture and explore a cultural heritage protection and utilization system with local features through building the Yellow River National Cultural Park. He also called for further efforts from relevant national authorities to support the protection and inheritance of Hehuang culture.

Three experts and scholars from the province's cultural relics bureau, the provincial institute of cultural relics and archaeology, and the provincial committee of the CPPCC delivered thematic reports at the seminar.
