The Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) conducted a supervision visit and held a symposium in Beijing on the handling of a key proposal on strengthening the management and evaluation of corporate data security on Aug 17. Zhou Qiang, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the events.
The proposal, undertaken by the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission (OCCAC), is one of the 72 key proposals of the CPPCC National Committee this year.
The CPPCC members visited enterprises engaged in data security technology development to gain a deeper understanding of the progress made in the field. They also held a proposal handling consultative meeting at the OCCAC and exchanged ideas with officials of the OCCAC and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The attending CPPCC members highlighted the importance and urgency of strengthening the data protection work in accordance with the law. They called for further efforts to fulfill the responsibility of supervision of data security and data competition to enhance corporate data compliance development, and to create a business environment for fair, standardized and orderly market competition.
