A team of members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC) from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and non-CPC CPPCC members conducted an inspection from June 12 to 16 in Southwest China's Sichuan province on collaborative participation in the Belt and Road construction and economic synergy between Sichuan and Hong Kong.

Leung Chun-ying, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, headed the inspection team.

The team visited Sichuan-Hong Kong economic cooperation as well as the operation of Hong Kong-funded enterprises in Chengdu, Meishan, and Deyang to learn about the development of innovative technologies, the industries of green energy, modern logistics and culture, rule-of-law development and protection of historical and cultural relics. A seminar was held to exchange ideas with heads of local governments and enterprises, as well as Hong Kong representatives in Sichuan.

The team said that the building of the Belt and Road and the advances in boosting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle have brought significant opportunities and broad potential for deepening Sichuan-Hong Kong cooperation.

They called for greater efforts to make good use of the Sichuan-Hong Kong cooperation conference mechanism to enhance communication and better leverage the advantages of the two regions to explore new models of synergetic industrial development.

They said that the role of Hong Kong as an international hub should be given full play to give impetus to the collaborative construction of the Belt and Road, to promote more outstanding enterprises and unique products of Sichuan to "go global" and to strive for the common prosperity of the two regions.
