The Committee on Proposals of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee visited the National Health Commission (NHC) on June 15 to supervise the handling of a key proposal on improving the quality of infant care, one of the 72 such proposals to be handled this year.
The Committee on Proposals also learned about the progress of other related proposals handled by the NHC since the first session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, including those uncovering the shortage of service resources for infant care and inclusive childcare, and called for an increase in the effective supply of services and stronger policy support.
Han Weiguo, vice-chairperson of the Committee on Proposals, said that quality infant care relates closely to childbearing, parenting, education, medical and health care and employment. He said he hopes the NHC can further explore the value of the CPPCC’s proposals and turn them into a source of strength to optimize policy support for population development.
CPPCC members and representatives of proposers exchanged views with relevant organizers on increasing policy support for childcare institutions, improving the professional talent system for childcare services and enhancing social trust in childcare institutions.
