The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) conducted an inspection in Hainan, China's most southerly province, from June 5 to 8, focusing on the protection of ecosystem diversity, stability and sustainability of the country's national parks.  

Headed by Shen Yueyue, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee, the inspection team visited Maona village of Shuiman town, the Yinggeling ecological education center, the ecological relocation and resettlement site in Xingaofeng village, and the gibbon habitat in Bawangling and communicated and exchanged with eco-migrants, ethnic minorities people, managers and workers of national parks, as well as officials from relevant local authorities. 

The inspection team said that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the CPC Central Committee has put forward a series of theories on ecological civilization, providing fundamental guidance for conserving ecological systems and building a beautiful China.  

Noting that the significance of building national parks should be more deeply understood, they emphasized that the construction of national parks should be advanced with a high degree of political consciousness and through concrete action. 

They stressed that it is important to build a unified, standardized and efficient national park system that upholds the protection and development of national parks and highlights the connection between ecological protection and the improvement to people's livelihoods. 

The team urged Hainan to continuously explore and establish Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park, better coordinate the protection and utilization of ecological resources, and strengthen scientific research to find new approaches that safeguard its lucid waters and lush mountains while generating greater social and economic value.
