On June 7, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) dispatched a team to Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region to survey the development of local wine, tourism and goji berry industries, and to explore cooperation opportunities between Ningxia and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

At the symposiums held during their trip, the  team and local government reached consensuses on such fields as the integrated development of the wine and cultural tourism industry, the establishment of a unified standard system for goji berry production, the exploration of the medicinal value of farm produce, and the promotion of investment and exchanges in the cultural tourism industry between Ningxia and Hong Kong.

Leung Chun-ying, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and leader of the team, affirmed the achievements made in the exchanges and cooperation between the two regions in recent years.

He said that Ningxia and Hong Kong should continue to promote comprehensive and in-depth communication and cooperation and tap full advantages of both sides to build various collaborative platforms.

He noted that as an international wine trade center, a trading platform for traditional Chinese medicine, and a "super contact person", Hong Kong should make good use of its experience and resources in brand building, marketing, technological innovation, publicity and promotion to help Ningxia's characteristic agricultural products go global and achieve greater international recognition and economic benefits.

Chen Yong, chairman of the CPPCC Ningxia Hui Autonomous Regional Committee, said that Ningxia will effectively implement the outcomes achieved at the symposiums, strengthen communication and cooperation with Hong Kong to expand investment and market channels, and will increase exchanges of CPPCC members to ensure regular and sustained cooperation between Ningxia and Hong Kong.
