The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Areas of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee conducted a survey on the integrated urban-rural development and the promotion of rural vitalization in East China's Zhejiang and Northeast China's Liaoning provinces, from May 18 to 25.

The research team visited farmers' cooperatives, village communities, planting and breeding bases, e-commerce industrial parks, hospitals and schools in Jiaxing and Shaoxing in Zhejiang and Liaoyang, Panjin, Jinzhou and Huludao in Liaoning, to learn about local practices, experiences and outcomes in integrated urban-rural development.

Symposiums were also held to communicate and exchange ideas with local officials. Hu Chunhua, vice-chairperson of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the research trip to Liaoning and spoke at the symposium.

The team called for greater efforts to promote the implementation of unified planning for urban-rural infrastructure projects, to improve the institutional mechanisms and policy systems for integrated urban-rural development, and to ramp up efforts to ensure equal basic rights and interests and equal public services for urban and rural residents.

They also stressed the need to guarantee a more balanced income and the rational allocation of factors in both urban and rural areas so that the achievements of rural vitalization can better benefit the people at large.

They urged the provinces to vigorously develop rural industries, build stronger talent forces, further tap into rural cultural resources and make the upgrading of rural governance a top priority.
