TDSL conducts survey on Yangtze River eco-protection in Chongqing

A research team of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (TDSL) Central Committee visited Southwest China's Chongqing municipality from May 21 to 22, to carry out democratic supervision and research on the ecological and environmental protection of the Yangtze River, with a focus on the comprehensive water environment treatment, water ecosystem restoration and green and low-carbon development of the river basin.

Led by Su Hui, vice-chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairperson of the TDSL Central Committee, the team made field visits to an ecosystem restoration and treatment project, a company dealing in environmentally-friendly power generation, and a sewage treatment plant.  They also conducted research on the demonstration of green development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, as well as the progress, achievements, difficulties and policy needs of waste incineration and power generation, sewage treatment, hazardous waste recycling and sewage discharge management.

This year marks the third year that the TDSL Central Committee has paired with Chongqing to supervise the ecological and environmental protection of the Yangtze River in the city. The TDSL will continue to pay attention to the most pressing issues of greatest concerns in the field, carry out solid research on the subject, improve the pertinence and effectiveness of supervision, and offer sincere suggestions to promote the ecological and environmental protection of the Yangtze River and the green and high-quality development of Chongqing.
