The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) conducted a survey in Northwest China's Gansu province and East China's Jiangxi province from May 14 to 21, on accelerating the construction of the country's water network.

The research team, organized by the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the CPPCC National Committee, visited key water control projects, water supply lines and irrigation systems in Baiyin of Gansu and Jiujiang of Jiangxi, to learn about the development of local water networks.

During the survey, the team also held symposiums with local officials to discuss relevant issues and exchange ideas.

Wang Guangqian, vice-chairperson of the CPPCC National Committee, participated in the survey and addressed the meetings.

The team said that it is urgent to build a modern and high-quality water conservancy infrastructure system as part of China's move to build a strong and beautiful country to meet the expectations of the people for a better life.

They called for greater efforts to improve the overall safety of water networks, build water-saving and digital water network projects, and explore a development model that integrates investment and construction with operations.
