On April 28, the Committee on Proposals of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee held a consultative meeting on the handling of key proposals related to promoting the high-quality development of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered a speech at the meeting.

Wang emphasized that it is a must to stick to the complete, faithful and thorough implementation of the new development philosophy and to accelerate the construction of a new development paradigm.

He added that the new development philosophy should always guide the high-quality development of SMEs and a modern industrial system based on the real economy should be built for SMEs.

He said that the Committee on Proposals should actively promote scientific and technological innovation and the commercialization of the scientific and technological outcomes of SMEs, accelerate their digital transformation, optimize the development environment for SMEs and effectively solve their difficulties so as to actively promote the high-quality development of SMEs.

What's more, the committee needs to handle the key proposals with greater quality and effectiveness, pay attention to consultation and interaction, strengthen awareness of quality, and increase work efficiency, so as to better translate the strengths of the people's consultative system into effective national governance.

As proposer representatives, heads of relevant departments of the central committees of the China National Democratic Construction Association and the China Zhi Gong Party introduced relevant information on the proposals at the meeting, and CPPCC members present at the meeting held discussions and exchanged views.

Officials-in-charge from the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the People's Bank of China and the China National Intellectual Property Administration introduced the handling of the proposals and answered questions.

Proposal makers and government officials conducted in-depth consultations on such issues as providing targeted assistance to promote the transformation and development of SMEs, offering differentiated solutions to solve their financial difficulties, optimizing the business environment for their development, and promoting their scientific and technological innovation.
