The inaugural meeting of the special committees of the 16th Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party was held in Beijing on April 23.

Jiang Zuojun, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee and chairman of the China Zhi Gong Party Central Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Jiang said that the special committees of the Zhi Gong Party Central Committee are the working body under the leadership of the Central Standing Committee and the Chairperson's Council of the party. They are important support for the Zhi Gong Party to perform its functions, an important pathway to rejuvenate the party through talents, an important vehicle for the party to enhance unity and build consensus, and an important stage for key party members to play their roles.

He expressed his hope that the new special committees strengthen their sense of mission and shoulder their responsibilities by following the spirit of "being committed to the public and following the Communist Party of China, and making new contributions to the country through unifying overseas Chinese nationals".

The new special committees were also urged to adhere to the correct political stance, serve Chinese modernization and conduct investigations and research to better improve their effectiveness in performing their duties.

Appointment letters were presented to the directors of the special committees, and representatives of the members of the new special committees delivered speeches at the inaugural meeting.

The meeting was presided over by Zhang Endi, a member and deputy secretary-general of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, and executive vice-chairman of the China Zhi Gong Party Central Committee. Cao Hongming, vice-chairman of the China Zhi Gong Party Central Committee and director of the office of the special committees of the China Zhi Gong Party Central Committee, delivered a work report at the meeting on behalf of the special committees of the 15th Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party.  

According to the meeting, the new special committees with 761 people consist of directors, advisors, deputy directors and members, and there are a total of 15 special committees covering the economy, science and technology, ecology-environment and sustainable development, education, medicine and health, culture, legal construction, overseas liaison, overseas students, social development and services, women work, party history research and party work, theory and study, agriculture and rural areas, and youth.
