The 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its first briefing session on issues of major concern with a focus on improving the resilience and security level of industrial and supply chains on April 13 in Beijing.
Shi Taifeng, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, said that the establishment of the briefing system for key concerns is a systematic arrangement for the CPPCC. It is also a powerful measure to strengthen ideological and political guidance and build broad consensus, and serves as an important platform to help CPPCC members better understand the national situation and improve their ability to perform their duties.
Shi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, noted that the themes of the briefings should focus on the central tasks of the Party and the nation, and translate the Party's propositions into consensus and action from all sectors of society.
Shi also called for greater efforts to develop whole-process people's democracy, upgrade the quality of consultations, further improve institutional mechanisms, standardize procedural processes, and forge more innovative carriers and mediums to promote substantive, in-depth and refined progress to better showcase the advantages of the CPPCC as a special consultative body.
Xu Xiaolan, vice-minister of industry and information technology, and Zhao Shitang, vice-chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, delivered reports on improving the resilience and security level of industrial and supply chains.
