The Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK) conducted a two-day survey in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, on the joint efforts by the city and Hong Kong to build a global highland for technological innovation from March 27 to 28.

Led by Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the RCCK Central Committee, the survey team visited a number of projects, including the Shenzhen branch of the Hong Kong Science Park and the one-stop service center, to learn about the latest development of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cooperation Zone for Science and Technology Innovation.

A seminar was held to listen to the opinions and suggestions of relevant departments, experts, scientific research institutions, and enterprises in Shenzhen and Guangdong province as a whole.

Zheng said at the seminar that it is important to promote high-quality development through institutional and mechanism reform, to pay close attention to global development trends, and to find suitable paths to facilitate the efforts to build the Shenzhen-Hong Kong global highland for science and technology innovation.

He noted that the benefits and advantages of “one country, two systems” should be given full play to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and promote Shenzhen-Hong Kong scientific and technological innovation cooperation as a major accelerator to empower innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Zheng stressed that it is necessary to strengthen collaborative cooperation between regions in the GBA, and proactively plan collaborative layouts for the two-way flow of scientific and technological innovation resources between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, so as to maximize synergic development.

The composite advantages of Hong Kong should be given full play to accelerate the construction of a new dual-circulation development paradigm, which focuses on the domestic economy while stressing a positive interplay between domestic and international economic circulations. The diversified industrial structures of cities in the GBA should also be used to help establish a more complete ecological system for innovation.

He said that Shenzhen-Hong Kong scientific and technological innovation cooperation should be based on fields with good foundations, advantages, and potential in making breakthroughs and target the world's frontier domains and top levels, stressing accelerated efforts to accomplish key innovation achievements to serve the country's major development strategies.
