The Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK) held two Zhongshan political consultative conferences from March 16 to 17, with the theme focusing on accelerating the high-quality development of the rail transit industry in China.

The Zhongshan Political Consultative Conference is a brand new activity for open political participation and deliberation introduced by the RCCK 2018, with the intention of gathering wisdom and seeking practical results.

Leaders of relevant ministries and commissions, key State-owned enterprises, experts and scholars were invited to the meetings to propose countermeasures and suggestions to help manage the difficulties and problems encountered in the country's development of its rail transit industry.

Accelerating the high-quality development of the rail transit sector has been specified as a key topic for field investigation and research by the committee this year, said RCCK officials.

Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the RCCK Central Committee, said that the achievements of China's rail transit industry over the past 10 years, especially in the high-speed rail sector, have greatly changed people's lifestyles, promoted urbanization and attracted worldwide attention.

Zheng noted that accelerating the interconnection of transportation infrastructure to ensure the efficient flow of production factors, goods and services, and boosting the construction of a unified national market is a move that faithfully and comprehensively promotes the new development philosophy.

To promote the healthy and sustainable development of the rail transit industry, it is necessary to continuously deepen reform, expand opening-up, optimize institutional mechanisms, and build a diversified investment and financing system, the RCCK Central Committee chairman said.

He Baoxiang, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee and the RCCK Central Committee's executive vice-chairman, said that China's rail transit equipment manufacturing industry is leading the world in terms of market scale, key technologies, and the competitiveness of its industrial chains. The industry chains have significant advantages and broad market prospects.

He added that this year, the RCCK will conduct in-depth investigations and research on the current situation of the rail transit industry, to help define the development trends, improve systematic planning and gather wisdom to help tackle difficult issues and ensure the high-quality development of the rail transit sector.
