On Jan 18, Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), extended festive greetings to compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and overseas Chinese ahead of Chinese New Year.

Zheng, also president of the China Sun Yat-sen Cultural Exchange Association and chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK), said that the year 2022 was a crucial year in the development history of the Party and the country.

Chinese people of all ethnic groups continued to forge ahead as one, better balance both domestic and international situations, coordinate the COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control with economic and social development, and development with security; comprehensively deepen reform and opening-up, make great strides in sci-tech innovation, and ensure economic and social stability, with significant progress made in all areas of the Party and country's endeavors, Zheng stressed in his speech.

He said that the China Sun Yat-sen Cultural Exchange Association had thoroughly studied and implemented major principles and policies of the CPC on the work related to Taiwan and the overall policy for resolving the Taiwan question in the new era, remained committed to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, firmly opposed any separatist activities seeking "Taiwan independence", resolutely opposed foreign interference, and won more support for national reunification from people at home and abroad in 2022.

Zheng also expressed great appreciation to compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and overseas Chinese for their huge support given to the association in 2022.

He added that in the new year, the association will closely adhere to the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and pool wisdom and strength from all Chinese people from home and abroad to promote the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations, pushing forward integrated development across the Taiwan Straits, and advancing the process of complete reunification and realizing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
