The fifth plenary meeting of the 12th Council of the China Vocational Education Association (CVEA) opened via video link on Dec 19.

Hao Mingjin, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and chairman of the CVEA, attended and delivered a written speech at the meeting.

Gu Shengzu, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and vice-chairman of the CVEA, attended the conference as well.

Hao said that this year, the CVEA has earnestly studied and implemented the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), made notable achievements in the implementation of important tasks defined by the fourth plenary meeting of the 12th Council of the CVEA, and performed well in voicing development proposals, organizing special activities and promoting organizational building.

Noting that the year 2023 will be an important year to carry out the newly revised law on vocational education and promote the high-quality development of modern vocational education, Hao stressed that it will be the most important political task for the CVEA to study and implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the CPC. The CVEA shall incorporate the guidelines on promoting the high-quality development of modern vocational education into the full implementation of the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, formulate plans and prepare for the election of new leadership, improve the quality of its proposals and theoretical studies, make social services and relevant guidance more practical, strengthen its exchanges with foreign countries, China's Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan, advance organizational development and self-building, fulfill its duties and ensure the high-quality development of vocational education.

The virtual conference deliberated and approved the work report delivered by Fang Naichun, director-general of the CVEA, on behalf of the 12th Executive Council of the CVEA and adopted a resolution on the appointment and removal of council members.
