BEIJING — Su Hui was elected chairperson of the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (TDSL) on Saturday.

The decision was announced after the TDSL, a non-communist political party with about 3,400 members, concluded its 11th national congress in Beijing.

Su is also vice-chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

At the closing session of the national congress of the TDSL, a 69-member new central committee was elected, which later chose Su as its chairperson.

Founded on Nov 12, 1947, the TDSL is one of the eight non-communist parties in China that participate in state affairs under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
