Committee on Population, Resources and Environment holds seminar on green, low-carbon economy

On Dec 25, 2022, the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held an online seminar on the development of the green, low-carbon and circular economy to promote exchanges between China and the European Union (EU) on ecological and environmental protection.

He Wei, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, attended the seminar.

Li Wei, chairman of the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment, said that the special committee has conducted a host of foreign exchanges to support the foreign-related affairs of the CPPCC National Committee, deepen mutual understanding between China and the international community, and promote mutual learning in ecological and environmental conservation.

Li stressed that it is the common dream of mankind to build a green homeland and that it is the joint responsibility of all countries to strengthen their cooperation on ecological and environmental protection. The CPPCC National Committee will make full use of its functions to deepen exchanges with the international community, including the EU, advance global sustainable development, and push for the building of a clean and beautiful world, he added.

David Boublil, deputy head of the department for indirect taxation except value-added tax in the EU Taxation and Customs Union, and Laurent Bardon, first-class counselor for climate change and environmental affairs in the EU delegation to China, talked about the carbon border adjustment mechanism and the new circular economy action plan adopted by the bloc.
