The Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a symposium for its group of ethnic minorities on Nov 18, under the theme of strengthening the education of cadres and forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation.
In his speech, Bater, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, said that to build the nation's sense of community is an important and innovative decision in accordance with the changes and the development of modern times, and is a guiding principle of the work on ethnic affairs.
Bater stressed that the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs must guide and lead cadres and people of all ethnic groups to fully grasp historical, theoretical and practical logic connected with the building of a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, proactively promote exchanges and integration between all ethnic people and the development of the Chinese nation's sense of community, uphold the Party Central Committee's authority and its centralized, unified leadership, and advance the building of a modern socialist country in all respects and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts.
Bater noted that the CPPCC shall make full use of its political consultative functions, organize symposiums, surveys, political consultation and democratic supervision activities around the theoretical and practical issues concerning the building of a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, forge consensus and strength for strengthening and improving the Party's work on ethnic affairs and pushing for ethnic unity.
He said that the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs and members from its groups of ethnic minorities and religious bodies should take the lead in forging a strong sense of community for and show their full support of the Chinese nation, Chinese culture, the CPC and socialism with Chinese characteristics.
