Members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and grassroots representatives discussed measures to promote the innovative practices in social governance in the midst of the urbanization of counties at a consultation symposium in Beijing on Nov 16.

The symposium was held by the CPPCC National Committee. Wang Yongqing, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended and addressed the meeting.

CPPCC members stressed that they must act on the policies and decisions outlined at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and pool wisdom and strength for the urbanization of counties.

In order to guarantee the thorough implementation of the decisions on social governance adopted at the 20th CPC National Congress, CPPCC members agreed that it was of vital importance for them to proactively adapt to the profound changes in social structure, organizational forms and the governance environment in the urbanization of counties; give full play to the role of Party building in grassroots social governance; make improvements in the social governance system based on collaboration, participation and shared benefits, the integration among self-governance, the rule of law and the rule of virtue, and risk management; sum up and promote applicable experience and practices, and carry out the policies and decisions of the CPC Central Committee with concrete results.
