The Standing Committee of the 12th China Democratic League (CDL) Central Committee held its 21st session in Beijing on Nov 4.

Ding Zhongli, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and chairman of the CDL Central Committee, delivered a speech at the meeting, which was presided over by Chen Xiaoguang, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the CDL Central Committee.

Ding said that it's important to have a thorough understanding of the profound meaning and significance of the great changes over the past 10 years in the new era, forge ahead with confidence and greater historical initiative, and advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through the pursuit of Chinese modernization.

Noting the top political task for the CDL is to study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Ding called for efforts to actively participate in political consultation under the leadership of the CPC and help enhance scientific and democratic decision-making.

The CDL will conduct in-depth research and propose suggestions on important issues, such as accelerating the development of a high-quality education system, deepening the reform of cultural and sci-tech systems, and strengthening the national innovation system, according to Ding.

The meeting, held both in-person and online, also reviewed and adopted the draft amendment to the Constitution of the China Democratic League.
