The Standing Committee of the 16th Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party (CPWDP) Central Committee held its 18th session on Nov 3, in an online-onsite hybrid format.

Chen Zhu, chairman of the CPWDP Central Committee, said that the top political mission for the CPWDP is to study, publicize and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

Chen, also vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, said that efforts should be made to obtain an in-depth comprehension of integrating the basic tenets of Marxism with China's specific realities and the needs of the times, understand the profound meaning and significance of the great changes over the past 10 years in the new era, and have a good grasp of the essential requirements and major principles in the pursuit of Chinese modernization.

In the meeting presided over by He Wei, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Chen also called for the CPWDP to give full play to its political role as a part of the patriotic united front, enhance cohesion, gain public support, and also make good preparations for the 17th National Congress of the CPWDP.
