On Oct 28, Gu Shengzu, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended and addressed a symposium on coordinating work on agriculture, rural areas and farmers.

The symposium was also attended by members of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Areas of the CPPCC National Committee, experts, scholars, and government officials.

In his address, Gu pointed out that the recently concluded 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China stressed the efforts to fully advance rural vitalization and accelerate the building of an agricultural powerhouse, which provides the direction for the work on agriculture, rural areas and farmers.

He emphasized the need to fully understand the key instructions from the central leadership on the work of agriculture, rural areas and farmers, and to conduct thorough consultations and exchanges on major issues in key areas, based on the general goal of modernization of agriculture and rural areas, so as to fully tap the CPPCC's role in rural vitalization.

Attendees conducted thorough and candid discussions and exchanges on topics including agricultural infrastructure construction, key and core agricultural technology breakthroughs, securing food-growers' reasonable profits and increasing their income, and reinforcing rural vitalization.
