A team from the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Areas of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee visited Shantou and Chaozhou cities in South China's Guangdong province, from Sept 13 to 16, to carry out survey on improving county-level business systems and strengthening infrastructure construction to boost economic circulation in rural areas.
Led by Zhang Yong, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and vice-chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Areas, the team visited industrial parks, farmer service centers, agricultural companies and logistics hubs to learn about local experience in the trading, processing and circulation of agricultural products. It also held a meeting with those from governmental departments and enterprises as well as grassroots representatives.
The research team stressed the importance of building county-level business systems to the strategies of rural vitalization and integrated rural-urban development.
It called for efforts to accelerate the upgrade of wholesale and retail markets, promote the growth of the rural commerce network, and to support the development of local leading logistics firms and brands.
