A video conference on the work of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, one of 10 special committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, and its counterparts under local CPPCC committees was held on Sept 15, to summarize the successful practices and advance the endeavor.

Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, hailed the progress achieved by foreign affairs committees at various levels based on their strong leadership and innovative measures.

Zheng said that more efforts on foreign affairs were needed in the CPPCC system to help China tackle complicated risks and challenges. He called for foreign affairs committees to stick to the correct political stance and direction and keep in mind both internal and international imperatives while pursuing progress.

He added that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, it's important to cement political and theoretical foundations to forge ahead in unity, give full play to the role of conducting political consultation, and enhance capacity-building to better serve the country's external work.

In the meeting, Lou Jiwei, chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee, also stressed the importance of offering suggestions on State affairs and building consensus in work.
