A meeting to promote the program of "10,000 enterprises vitalizing 10,000 villages", launched by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), was held in Beijing on Sept 7.
In the teleconference, Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairman of the ACFIC, recognized the progress made last year and called for the active assumption of responsibilities to further the endeavor.
Gao said that the program's central task is to align efforts to consolidate achievements in poverty alleviation with promoting rural vitalization through the improved pairing-up of aid, stronger measures, and more innovative methods.
He said that it's important to motivate private enterprises and chambers of commerce to participate in the program, guide the fostering of rural industries to improve farmers' incomes, and facilitate cooperation between eastern provinces and western areas.
He added that in the program, efforts should be made to ensure private enterprises extend support to all 160 priority counties in need of development assistance, amid effective organization and services.
