The Forum on Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurship 2022, themed on "Practicing the Dual-carbon Strategy, Gathering Green Kinetic Energy", opened on Sept 7 in Beijing.

Wan Gang, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee and president of the China Association for Science and Technology, made a keynote speech at the opening ceremony.

Wan, also chairman of the Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party, stressed the strategic importance of achieving the country's goals of peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.

He called for proactive efforts to be made to tackle energy challenges, advance the energy revolution, as well as scientific and technological progress and economic transformation, and to gradually build a modern energy system.

He said that it's necessary to push forward supply-side reform in the energy sector, promote reform in the electricity market system, boost the supportive role of technology, and enhance high-level international energy cooperation.

Jointly organized by the Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party and the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, the forum aims to give full play to the advantages of the China Zhi Gong Party's connection with overseas Chinese citizens, and to support the community's entrepreneurship in the country and exchanges with business leaders and scholars.
