The 15th Huangpu (Whampoa) Forum was sponsored by the Alumni Association of the Huangpu Military Academy, and jointly organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Overseas Friendship Association and the Jiangsu Alumni Association of the Huangpu Military Academy in Nanjing, capital city of East China's Jiangsu province, on Sept 5, with the theme of paying tribute to revolutionary martyrs, carrying forward the spirit of the Huangpu Military Academy, and embarking on a new journey of the united front work.
Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee and chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (TDSGL), attended and addressed the forum.
Noting that this year is the 85th anniversary of the war of resistance against Japanese aggression, Su, also vice-chairwoman of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification (CCPPNR), said that the organization of the forum aimed at paying tribute to the historic deeds of revolutionary martyrs during the war, passing on the spirit of resisting aggression and of the Huangpu Military Academy, and rallying the strength of Huangpu alumni and their offspring for realizing a peaceful national reunification and the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
She called on Huangpu alumni and their offspring to bear in mind the historical mission, follow the historical trend, and support the realization of a peaceful national reunification and the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
Xu Yousheng, vice-chairperson of the China Overseas Friendship Association (COFA) and secretary-general of the CCPPNR, said that the Huangpu Military Academy represents the cooperation between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Kuomintang, and made tremendous contributions to the establishment of a united Chinese front against Japanese aggression.
Xu called on Huangpu associations, alumni and their relatives across the Taiwan Straits to fight against secessionist activities, promote national reunification, carry forward the spirit of the Huangpu Military Academy, live up to its founding mission and play a positive role in the realization of national reunification.
Chen Zhishu, vice-chairperson of the Alumni Association of the Huangpu Military Academy, called on Huangpu alumni, their relatives and people from all social sectors to pass on the Huangpu spirit of patriotism and revolution, firmly counter any secessionist activities, and promote exchanges between people across the Taiwan Straits.
Those in attendance of the forum included Huangpu alumni's relatives, Taiwan's youth, businesspeople and students with connections to the Huangpu Military Academy and living and working on the Chinese mainland, representatives of Huangpu organizations and alumni's relatives from the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, and experts, scholars and the representatives of other relevant organizations.
