The 2022 Overseas Chinese World Conference for Promoting Peaceful Reunification of China was held in Southwest China's Sichuan province on Aug 27, under the theme of "adhering to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus and advancing national reunification and rejuvenation".

Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and vice-president of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification, addressed the conference via video link.

Noting that national reunification is a historical trend and is of vital importance to the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation, Zheng said that it is the common voice and a glorious mission of all Chinese people at home and abroad to firmly oppose any separatist activities seeking "Taiwan independence", and to promote the peaceful reunification of the country.

He stressed that it is a fair, just, lawful and righteous cause to oppose national separation and promote the peaceful reunification of China, which cannot be smeared and demonized by any forces, adding that all Chinese people must continue to hold high the banner of patriotism and make greater contributions to the peaceful national reunification and realization of the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.

Officials from the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, and the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC also attended and addressed the conference.

Over 3,000 people from 360 overseas branches of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification in 120 countries and regions and from relevant organizations attended the conference online and offline.

The conference adopted the Chengdu Declaration, which reaffirms the one-China principle.
