The Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a video symposium on July 28 on supporting the entrepreneurship and employment of people with disabilities.

Chen Xiaoguang, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, called for great efforts to help people with disabilities find jobs and further enhance their sense of happiness and security while delivering a speech at the symposium with Jiangsu province's relevant government departments, associations of people with disabilities, training institutions, job service institutions, and representatives of people with disabilities.

The policies involving employment agencies, financial support, as well as education and training should be further implemented, Chen stressed, saying that it's necessary to promote the employment of the group according to their proportion in the population.

Continued efforts should be made to improve employment services, build professional teams, intensify personnel training, and extensively mobilize social institutions to support the employment of people with disabilities, he noted.

He also urged efforts to create a favorable social and public opinion environment, improve the policy for the protection of people with disabilities, publicize their  employability and the social responsibilities of employers through various channels and methods, and encourage all sectors of society to support them.
