Leung Chun-ying, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), gave a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the second China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) in Haikou, South China's Hainan province on July 25.
Leung said global consumption recovery faces some challenges, as the world is undergoing major changes unseen in a century while COVID-19 is still spreading. However, he stressed that China's consumption market continues to expand and the overall trend of consumption has not changed.
He said China's economy still enjoys strong resilience, enormous potential, vast room for maneuver and long-term sustainability, adding that he is confident in the country’s economic development prospects.
Leung also said the CICPE, under the theme of “Share open opportunities and co-create a better life,” fits with the development trend and meets the aspiration for open cooperation of all countries.
