He Wei, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended a video meeting to spur and oversee the handling of a key proposal - promoting early childhood development in rural areas - on July 18.
The meeting was organized by the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the CPPCC National Committee. The National Health Commission, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the All-China Women's Federation were responsible for handling the proposal submitted to the Fifth Session of 13th CPPCC National Committee held in March.
In the meeting, He called for comprehensive measures to promote early childhood development in rural areas, such as enhancing the provision of care services to infants, incorporating this endeavor into common prosperity and rural vitalization strategies, and expanding pilot programs in more areas.
It's important to build a system to support parenting in the countryside, create a talent force to meet the needs of rural areas, and raise awareness of science-based parenting information, he said.
