Ma Biao, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with visiting diplomatic envoys of 10 ASEAN countries in China on July 15.

Ma said China and ASEAN declared the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides at the special summit to commemorate the 30th anniversary of China-ASEAN dialogue relations last November, marking a new milestone in the history of their relations.

He said that inviting the diplomatic envoys to visit the CPPCC National Committee is one way to implement the consensus reached at the summit and to advance mutual understanding between the two sides, as well as expand exchanges and cooperation.

During the visit, the diplomatic envoys said they appreciated the opportunity to learn more about China's democracy and the important role played by the CPPCC in national governance. They also pledged to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPPCC National Committee.
