A team led by Li Bin, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), conducted a survey on accelerating the development of new energy storage in North China's Shanxi province from July 11 to 14.
The team visited the province's cities of Datong, Shuozhou, Xinzhou, Jinzhong and Taiyuan to look into energy initiatives, such as integrating thermal energy storage within coal power plants and energy interconnection. It also held symposiums with government departments and representatives from enterprises to exchange ideas.
Li, also secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, hailed the achievements of the province as a leading coal producer and its outstanding contribution to the national energy supply.
She urged Shanxi to seize the opportunity of energy transformation, forge ahead to develop new energy storage technologies, and improve the energy market through well-rounded planning and pilot programs.
She said that under the premise of security, efforts are needed to create a fair market environment for the development of new energy storage, properly manage the relationship between energy storage, use and transmission, and boost smart grids' development.
