Gu Shengzu leads research on vocational education for rural vitalization in Heilongjiang

A team led by Gu Shengzu, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, visited Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, on July 6 and 7, to conduct survey on promoting the role of vocational education in rural vitalization.

At the symposium held on July 7 with local relevant authorities, Gu stressed the fundamental importance of training talent in advancing rural vitalization, calling for measures to attract talent through development opportunities, retain talent through stable remuneration packages, and improve the policy system to allow them to perform their roles effectively.

Gu said that it's important to carry out multi-level vocational education in diverse fields, to encourage business start-up initiatives in rural areas, and to create more job opportunities during Internet application and the integrated development of primary, secondary, and tertiary industries.

He also called for efforts to extend the industrial and value chains in rural areas, and to promote county-based urbanization.

The survey was a preparatory step for a  biweekly consultation meeting to be held in September. The team had also conducted field studies in Harbin as well as Gannan and Fuyu counties of Qiqiha'er before that.
